LYDENBURG – A resident of Mashishing is at her wits end regarding the regular flooding of her house during each rainy season.
According to Ms Sibongile Sibiya who lives in Church Street Mashishing this problem has been reported to Thaba Chweu’s technical department on numerous occasions.
“This will be the 10th year my home gets flooded when it rains. Each and every time I report the situation to the municipality and every time they promise to address it.”
Sibiya took the newspaper to her house after the last heavy rains. The entire yard was flooded and to gain access to the house, one has to walk through ankle deep water.
“The water never drains and it could last days before the water and mud eventually disappears.” She told the newspaper that she is at her wits end with the municipality that did not keep its promises.
Steelburger/Lydenburg News contacted the municipality for comment on the matter. The newspaper asked how it was possible for the municipality to ignore her requests for help for the past10 years.
TCLM responded that they were looking into the matter and would respond to the queries.
