Khutsong learners graduate and celebrate the school’s 14 anniversary

The kids performed extra mural activities, depicting the life of Nelson Mandela

TAUNG – Local preschool, Khutsong held their graduation and 14-year anniversary on December 6.

The ceremony was well attended by local pastors, the tribal authority and principals of the local schools.

The kids performed various dramas, poems and songs, most depicting the life of the fallen icon Nelson Mandela.

Beauty pageants and modelling were also some of the extramural activities performed by the youngsters.

Guest speaker Donald Sera Moimane encouraged the locals to value education, “It’s important to have role models that have succeeded, when choosing friends, pick those who have goals and ambitions. Not the ones that will drag you into the mud, and encourage you to do drugs and drink alcohol,” he said.

Moimane also praised the school principal Elvina Komane for instilling faith in the young kids. It’s challenging to run a school of Khutsong’s calibre. The young kids are naughty and problematic, ”we need people like Komane in our communities,” he added.

Khutsong was first opened in 2000, the first learners who attended the school were doing their matric this year.
