Top Mpumalanga Matrics awarded

The top matrics in Mpumalanga were honoured at the announcement of the 2013 Grade 12 results in Hazyview.

HAZYVIEW – On the same morning the gr 12 results were announced countrywide, the Mpumalanga Department of Education honoured the top pupils in the province.

The ceremony was attended by, among others, the head of the department, Mrs Mahlasedi Mhlabane, the MEC for Education, Ms Reginah Mhaule and the premier of Mpumalagan, Mr David Mabuza.

In the province, the 25 schools that achieved a 100 % pass rate were recognized. Teachers who had a high pass rate in their subjects were also awarded trophies for their efforts.

Hoërskool Nelspruit scooped up a few awards and was later crowned as the best school in the province.

Pupils who had the highest marks in high-entry subjects each received a laptop and a host of other products as reward for their hard work.

The top ten pupils of the province were announced and each walked away with a trophy, laptop, smartphone, iron, travel bag set, breakfast pack, fan, bar fridge and microwave.

Bhavika Suresh Mistry scored at the top of the group and was surprised with the keys to a brand new Toyota Etios.
