Club concludes year in Chinese fashion

Stylish annual function

The Hazyview Garden Club had their annual Christmas Chinese year-end function at Nabana Lodge on Tuesday, December 10. Each person had to bring a gift worth R20. The gifts were all beautifully wrapped and included homemade jams, wine, soaps and jewellery just to mention some, all wrapped beautifully.

The garden club was founded by Rina Alberts in 1985. The chair person was Doreen Human and Rika Koekemoer was secretary. There were 15 members to starts with. It included a lot of people from the Kiepersol area. In those days the people went on various outings, to Orchids farms, Azalea farms to the Botanical Gardens and had interesting talks. A big and small garden competition was also run. The garden club also visited different gardens and had talks. All these different things were done for the garden club.

Sadly, Rina Alberts passed away after having malaria. The garden club did go on where there still locals joining for outings till today. The current Chair Lady is Sally Morgan.
