New principal has big plans for St Peter’s

Meet the new principal joins St Peter's Primary School.

New to the Lowveld and first time as principal, Mr Jacques Janse van Rensburg has joined St Peter’s as the new headmaster.

He said he had previously been the deputy head of Jan Cilliers Primary School in Pretoria. Van Rensburg stated that he and his family had already found the area amazing to live in.

Speaking about St Peter’s, Van Rensburg said he wanted to bring it back to its glory days.”This used to be the school of choice, it still has a niche market.” He found that the teachers and parents underplayed their true value. “This is what the real South Africa is about, about people and caring for one another, the spirit of ubuntu.”

He said his son attended the school and had been welcomed from day one. He had not been treated like the new boy. Van Rensburg added he felt even the preschool was one of the best in Nelspruit and possibly, the country.

It is not a forced environment, but rather a play/learning one.”

He stated that the primary school offered a homework facility, various sporting activities and cultural activities. “We have remedial classes that take between nine and 10 children who need extra attention. We then integrate them into mainstream classes as soon as they are ready. ”

He said the school had taken 27 new pupils besides the grade ones. According to him, there were only a couple of places left for new learners. He concluded that the school offered a fantastic aftercare facility which provided a meal for learners and the staff helped with their homework.
