MALALANE – Nkomazi government roads are in an appalling condition and the spokesman for roads and transport, Mr Dumisani Malamule said this issue would be addressed in the forthcoming 2014/15 policy and budget speech.
According to a resident of the Strydomblok area and who uses the road daily, some maintenance is taking place. “On the Jeppe’s Reef Road via Hectorspruit, there are government workers who are currently redoing the tarmac for about 50 metres from the Strydomblok turn-off stop sign. The irony is that this part is not in a such a bad condition, but they have implemented a stop-and-go system,” said Ms Merinda Engelbrecht.
She added that the potholes started right after the new tarmac stops and this defeated the purpose. Malamule responded, “All efforts are made to ensure that constant maintenance will be done in the financial year. The MEC will announce the plans for the provincial road network during the speech.”
