MALALANE – In a bid to fast-track the reopening of the Hectorspruit Police Station the premier, Mr David Mabuza, has made recommendations to the SAPS provincial commissioner, Mr Thulani Ntobela.
This came to light after a meeting between Mabuza and the executive mayor for Nkomazi, Cllr Thulisile Khoza.
According to the spokesman for the municipality, Mr Cyril Ripinga, it is in the mayor’s and the municipality’s best interest to have the police station reopened.
“The premier, Mr David Mabuza, has handed the matter over to the SAPS’ provincial commissioner.
“It is in the best interest of the mayor and the municipality that the police station be reopened, because the safety of our people is our number-one priority,” Ripinga said.
At the time of going to press, attempts to contact the SAPS’s provincial spokesman, Col Leonard Hlati for an update on progress made, were unsuccessful.
