DA brings hope to the people of Praktiseer

Limpopo's provincial leaders of the Democratic Alliance (DA) visited the area last week Thursday.

BURGERSFORT – Limpopo’s provincial leaders of the Democratic Alliance (DA) visited the area last week Thursday.

Ntsabeng Lerotholi, DA provincial director, and Langa Bodlani, DA premier candidate attended several community gatherings. They also joined local DA councillors, Roelof Lourens, Joseph Kgwedi and John Mogale when a water provision system was launched for the less privileged at a village in Praktiseer.

This party is planning to provide the people of this spesific area with a much-needed water pumping system. BUCO apparently sponsored a 1 000-litre tank and a pump to aid the party in their cause. “Our members in this community have no water and have to walk to the Steelpoort River to get some. With this project we aim to better the lives of our followers,” said Cllr Roelof Lourens.

After installation of the water-pumping system the party hopes to make it work with the community’s help. “Water will be pumped from the river to a tank on a bakkie. Hopefully someone in the community will be willing to assist with a bakkie. The vehicle can then deliver water to the houses,” explained Lourens.

He also said the current government or municipality did nothing to help the people of the village. “There are no services in this community. The local government have forgotten about the people living here. Our party wants to listen to people’s needs and help out where we can,” said Lourens.

This project was also apparently scrutinised by media in the area. The local radio station asked Lourens if the DA had a permit to pump the water. “We only want to help the people. Through this project we want to better their lives,” Lourens answered.

He added the system would be up and running as soon as the water tank arrived in town. “BUCO ordered one from their head office and we’re just awaiting an opportunity with a truck from here,” said Cllr Lourens.
