
LYDENBURG – “The turnaround strategy is a process not an event.” This is the answer the newspaper received when we questioned if any turnaround has been made since it’s been more than three months that the MEC of the Mpumalanga’s Department of Cooperative and Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) conducted an assessment on the finances of Thaba Chweu Municipality.
And yet, it is eminent that certain areas have seen little or no improvement.
This assessment identified significant financial problems within the municipality and hence a ‘turnaround strategy’ supported by a team from Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Cogta and provincial treasury was conducted.
