GA MAMPURU – An 11-year-old learner of Nkokoane Primary School will fly the Tubatse flag high when she will participate from March 20 to 22 in the South African Schools Athletics National Championship in Paarl.
This achievement of the grade five learner, Surprise Thato Makakola, comes after her excellent performance at the provincial championship on February 28 at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
According to Makgabo Mahladisa, Nkokoane’s sport organiser, Thato has been consistent in her running since the beginning: from circuit, to cluster to regional and provincial level. She has been doing outstandingly well, she managed position one in her first three races and only stumbled at provincial level, when she came second. I believe she will do the Limpopo Province proud,” said Mahladisa.
The school principal, Mr Gilbert Ntladi pleaded with the locals to support the young athlete.” We ask for the donation of a sports kit, including running shoes, tracksuits and shorts. The child comes from a needy family and they cannot afford to buy her everything she needs. May good Samaritans lend a hand in this tough time,” Ntladi said.
Those who want to help Thato, should contact Mr Gilbert Ntladi on 076-157-5728.
