Don't miss platinum-seller Nianell at the Sappi/Lowvelder Mother's Day concert in the botanical garden!

NELSPRUIT – Mother’s Day celebrated in May, may sound a long way off, but Sappi and Lowvelder are already so excited about this year’s concert in the Lowveld National Botanical Garden, that we want you to make sure you save the date for an amazing outing.

The 14th annual Sappi/Lowvelder Mother’s Day concert will take place on May 11 and a world-class programme is already being rehearsed in Gauteng. Platinum-seller Nianell, who dazzles with the ease of her four-octave vocal gymnastics, will share the stage with Forté, a group which blossomed out of the Black Tie Ensemble. Add to that the spice and charm of Thean Kotzé and the stage is set for an unforgettable event.

Nianell creates her own musical language, where words are sometimes unnecessary, allowing every soul to interpret the melody according to its own needs. She is a South African and international success story, with many of her songs play-listed on radio stations worldwide. She is a gifted singer, a talented musician and songwriter, an author and now also shares her message as an inspirational keynote speaker.

She is an astute businesswoman, the mother of triplets and recently wrote her first book, Knowing Who I Am. She landed a world deal for her book with the publishing company Hay House and it was launched in August 2012, and included a 16-track CD. Career highlights include a duet performance with the legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli during one of his visits to South Africa, along with a world televised performance at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Fifa World Cup final.

In addition, she achieved gold status with four of her albums and platinum with four, establishing her as one of South Africa’s top-selling artists. She won several South African Music Awards for various projects.

Members of Forté strive to challenge the conventions of art and not confine themselves to the traditional operatic repertoire. Their inspiration encompasses all genres that ignite their passion. In April Forté will be guest artists of the University Orchestra of Pretoria and will also star at the Mozart Opera Gala in Bloemfontein with the Free State Symphony Orchestra. The press has hailed the group as some of the best talent that has surfaced during the past few years. In October last year they celebrated Giuseppe Verdi’s 200th birthday and the launch of Gauteng Opera with a beautiful Verdi Opera Gala, conducted by German conductor, Philipp Pointner and the Gauteng Opera Chorus. Managed by Gauteng Opera, this vibrant group strives for good music and excellence through quality performances.

The spicy Thean Kotzé is part of Ses Snare and recently also starred in two State Theatre productions in Pretoria.

Partners of the event, Citybug and J&M, have already committed to the event and a few more exciting sponsors have been asked to join in. Watch the press for more details.
