Issues arise at Burgersfort voting station

Some voters were upset this morning when they saw that the ballot boxes at Mogale Wa Bogale had not been sealed.

BURGERSFORT – Some voters were upset this morning when they saw that the ballot boxes at Mogale Wa Bogale had not been sealed.

A woman apparently complained to the IEC workers at the specific station about the boxes not being sealed. The incident happened around 10:00 this morning.

“If the boxes are not sealed then anyone can remove votes from it. How can we be sure now that the elections are fair?” the woman said.

When Steelburger/Lydenburg News arrived at the voting station after the complaint the boxes were sealed. The elections officer at the station refused to comment on the matter.

This newspaper assured the officer that the issue would be taken up with the relevant spokesperson in due time.

Another voter complained about the litter on the school grounds. “There’s litter everywhere. The toilets are dirty and one can see that no upkeep is being done on the buildings. Its shameful as the school only opened a few years ago.”
