New MPLs sworn in today

The Honourable Deputy Judge President AP Ledwaba is to swear in the 30 members of the provincial legislature today.

MBOMBELA – The 30 new members of the provincial legislature (MLPs) who were elected on May 7 are to be sworn in today. They will represent voters for the next five years.

While the ruling ANC announced the premier candidates for the eight provinces it controls yesterday, with Mr David Mabuza to serve a second term in Mpumalanga, the speaker and the deputy speaker of the legislature are expected to be elected today.

The Honourable Deputy Judge President AP Ledwaba has been designated to preside over the swearing in of the elected members.
