BURGERSFORT – The Praktiseer community engaged in a legal protest this morning. They marched from the old municipal building to the new one where they waited for the Greater Tubatse Municipality Mayor, Mr Nkosi Mahlake.
They were heard singing, “This thing of not having water is sh#t!” The crowd waited for more than an hour for Mahlake to arrive as he apparently had a flat tire on his way to work from Ohrigstad where he resides.
Among other issues the protesters demanded water, electricity and better roads.
When Mahlake approached the protestors they booed him. Some through water at him but the tight security immediately demanded them to calm down. Mahlake stopped waiving and listened as the memorandum with demands was read out loud.
Afterwards he spoke to the crowd and promised to respond to their requests.
