Prospective candidate for Ward 15
“As municipal employee I always worked with politicians, but was never one myself. My motivation to get involved now, is that I realised I may have something to contribute form my experience and knowledge.

LYDENBURG – The DA recently announced the party’s new candidate for Ward 15 in Lydenburg. This follows after former DA councillor, Mr Farhad Essack was elected to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) in the parliament of SA.
The new candidate and man in the hot seat is Mr Willem de Jongh. Steelburger/Lydenburg News caught up with De Jongh to introduce him to the residents in this ward.
“I was born and raised in Namaqualand, matriculated, graduated and worked for 22 years in local government, ending off as municipal manager of Phokwane Municipality in Hartswater, Northern Cape. I have been married to my wife, Rentia, for 31 years and have three children,Heino, Nicole and WK.”
De Jongh has been a resident of Lydenburg since January 2010 and works at Motolo as social and labour plan coordinator.

I kindly wish to motivate all residents to vote for the DA as we stand for open, transparent and fair governance.”
By-elections for this ward will take place on August 13. Special votes can be cast on August 12.
