MBOMBELA – Mr Rasheed Matola, director of community services at Mbombela Local Municipality (MLM), is still in his job. Mr Joseph Ngala, spokesman for MLM, said earlier this week that a disciplinary process against Matola has begun and is still continuing.
It was recommended in November by the provincial department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) that Matola and former municipal manager Mr Xolani Mzobe be suspended and investigated over their alleged involvement in procurement irregularities related to the Orange Afcon tournament which Mbombela co-hosted in January and February of last year.
