Low water pressure problems persist in Malalane
Are you still battling with low water pressure at your house even though the municipal water infrastructure has been repaired?
MALANE- Are you still battling with low water pressure at your house even though the municipal water infrastructure has been repaired?
The cause may be mud clogging the pressure regulator/ relief valve that protects your pipes from bursting if water pressure is too high.
Blocked relief valves have been found to cause problems at a number of homes during the past week, especially in Fish Eagle Bend.
The remedy is to open or remove the relief valve and rinse/ backflush the mesh inside. Most of us would need help from a plumber or handyman, but this is not too difficult to do if one has the correct tools.
Speak to someone at your local hardware store. Take a photo of the valve using your cellphone and show them when asking for advice.
In short: if your taps aren’t even blowing air while the neighbours have no shortage of water, consider cleaning the pressure relief valve before contacting the Municipal Technical Services department.
If this has been done and you still have issues with water supply, call the Municipal helpline at 013 790 0990.
