For the first time in 10 years, the matric class of 2014 from Lowveld High School said goodbye in a very appropriate manner by unveiling their parting gift to the school.
“Ten years ago, the class of 2004 was the last to give a gift to the school and this year, we are reviving this very important tradition,” the head girl of 2014, Nothando Nonyana said on this special day in her address to the learners.
“Often in life we are told that it is well mannered to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. When we joined Lowveld High School in 2010, we were saying ‘please’. Please accept us, please teach us, please help us grow. And now, nearly five years later, we have been accepted in the LHS community, we have been taught by exceptional teachers and we have grown holistically. The time has come to say goodbye and leave a small token of appreciation for the immeasurable difference this school has made in our lives,” she said.
The mosaic artwork was designed and made by Ms Ronelle Blackburn, a talented artist and ceramics potter of Sabie. “The mosaic of our school flower is fixed on the podium at the quad where learners can see it every morning at assembly”.
