Locals complain about proof of residence documents

How can they approve it, if there is no address filled in?” asked one of the school secretaries.

BURGERSFORT – It has come to the attention of the authorities that residents are showing up at schools and businesses with incorrect proof-of-residence documents.

“ A man came in to register his child at our school and the document was not filled in, but had been stamped and signed by officials at the Greater Tubatse Municipality. The only time they can sign and approve it, is if the address has been checked to see if it is correct. How can they approve it, if there is no address filled in?” asked one of the school secretaries.

Mr Thabiso Mokoena, spokesman for the Greater Tubatse Municipality, said they were aware of the problem and would look into it. He also advised that schools and businesses should not accept documents which have not been fully and correctly completed.
