Laerskool Lydenburg honours its top achievers for their hard work

Prize-giving is always a special occasion at Laerskool Lydenburg.

LYDENBURG – Prize-giving is always a special occasion at Laerskool Lydenburg.

It offers the chance to reflect on the year’s highlights by rewarding those pupils who worked hard throughout the year and also to look forward to new opportunities and adventures awaiting them.

And especially for those who are about to leave primary school and embark on the next phase of their lives.

This year’s dux learner is Katinka de Wet, with 91%. This grade seven learner received a certificate, pin for the dux learner, trophy and R800 cash sponsored by Pick n Pay.

The sports boy of the year is Christiaan Pretorius who qualified in hurdles and high jump to participate in both the Mpumalanga and South Africa championships.

He also captained the first rugby team, the Pumas 7s rugby team and the Pumas Craven Week team. He also played tennis, hockey and cricket for the school’s first teams.

The sports girl of the year is Ané Coetzee, who played for the first netball team and qualified for the Pumas netball team.

She also qualified for the 200m in athletics and will participate in the Mpumalanga championships.

The new head boy is Reinhardt Viljoen and the head girl Simone van Wyk.
