GAMOTODI – On Thursday November 6 a prestigious event took place at Marota Primary School to bid the grade 7s farewell.

The ceremony included a prize-giving and pupils who excelled in their studies were rewarded with trophies. Entertainment was tops as learners performed traditional dancing, choirs sang, and poems and dramas were rendered. Local councillors, Kgoshi PR Sekhukhune, Dr SP Nchabeleng, Dr Lorna Maphuthuma, parents and members of the school governing board graced the event.

The theme was, ”Being proud of your culture and respecting it”. All the guests donned traditional attire and traditional food was served.

The event was also a congratulatory ceremony for the learners who won the Baswa le meetse national competition which targeted grade sevens and was based on projects that conveyed health and hygiene messages through art mediums such as drama, traditional music, poetry, praise singing and posters.

The school principal Ms MS Mahole asked parents to cooperate with the teachers in developing the learners.

“Makotanyane excelled as the maths teacher while Sekhukhune helped the learners in winning Baswa le meetse national competition,” she said.
