Through wind and rain, this traffic cop’s got your back
An employee of the Mbombela Traffic Department proved that he is here to serve - through wind and rain as well.

MBOMBELA – An employee of the Mbombela Traffic Department literally went quite a few extra miles to protect a cyclist on the R40 from Mbombela to the Sudwala Caves.
Mr Grant Scheepers (34) decided to cycle to Sudwala on December 16. Shortly after he had left the city it started to rain heavily which severely limited his visibility. Scheepers said he could not believe what happened next when he was about three kilometres out of town.
A patrol officer of the local traffic department en route to the city noticed him on his bicycle. The officer made a U-turn, pulled up behind Scheepers and assisted him by switching on his vehicle’s emergency lights. He then escorted the cyclist in this manner for 36 kilometres, until he turned off to his destination. After making sure that Scheepers was fine, the officer continued with his journey.
Scheepers was so impressed by this act of kindness that he asked the officer to pose with him for a photograph.
He later discovered the officer in question was Mr Dennis Zikalala and thanked him repeatedly for ensuring his safety, and that on a public holiday. Zikalala is living proof that there are indeed law enforcers whom the public can rely on.
