Parents have a harder time letting go than the grade one pupils

The grade ones of Uplands Prep were all smiles on their first day of school last week, contrary to parents who had to swallow a few tears.

The school has 47 grade ones this year, including the Drury twins, Matthew and Thomas, and will be taught by Ms Sally Wiggill and Ms Claudia Harris. The teachers were delighted with their new pupils and the day was spent getting the children settled in, making new friends and discovering how school works.

The headmaster, Mr Dave Ernstzen, was also bursting with pride as his son, Matthew, also started his first day of school.
