Loose trailer damages cars and building.
According to eyewitnesses, an articulated vehicle from TTS Plant Hire carrying heavy equipment was at the filling station at the shopping centre when the trailer unhitched and rolled back towards the parked Avanza and motor spares shop.
BURGERSFORT – A couple of people narrowly escaped death last Friday when a double drop-deck three-axle runaway trailer crashed into a Toyota Avanza, a Mercedez-Benz and the shopfront of 1 Stop Motor Spares at the Platinum Centre.
Luckily, the drivers of both cars were not in their vehicles during the accident.
According to eyewitnesses, an articulated vehicle from TTS Plant Hire carrying heavy equipment was at the filling station at the shopping centre when the trailer unhitched and rolled back towards the parked Avanza and motor spares shop.
“After the trailer came loose, it travelled in a shocking speed when it struck the vehicles and the buildings,” said an eyewitness.
The owner of the Avanza, Mr Shadrack Morele from Matibidi thanked God he had escaped death, “It was not my day to die, the trailer could have killed me,” he sighed.
Morele said he is in talks with TTS Plant Hire company and they have agreed to fix his car.
“I hope they fix it soon, as I am unemployed and rely on it,” he said. At the time of going to print, the paper did not have a comment from the TTS Plant Hire company.
