Pupils discover a love of poetry

A recent poetry day held at Accelerated Academy aimed to cultivate pupils' love for the written word.

A love of language and poetry was cultivated among pupils of Accelerated Academy during a recent poetry day. Staff members of White River Library visited the school to help with the judging and children were tasked to prepare poems. Some even recited their own work.

Ms Laverne Sanderson and her team of librarians praised the children’s great performances. A highlight was Charlene Dlamini, a gr. 2 pupil, who recited a poem about sharks.

Library week is being held next week (March 16 to 20) and the White River Library will be running a competition in poetry writing, short shorty writing and rap composition. Pupils of Accelerated Academy are determined to compete and have already started working on their entries.
