Summerhill Prep’s pupils are oxygen lovers, which is one of the reasons why they love trees. The school’s adventure club had an introduction to tree identification (as well as some tree climbing and hugging) on February 20.
Mainly leaves but also other parts such as latex (sap), cavities and fruit were used to identify some of the trees found on the beautiful school grounds.
The 37 learners from grades one to four were then divided into groups and had to find trees which matched the leaves they were given. As a reward they all received a decorate-your-own-cupcake set.
The day was concluded with a fun splash down by the river.
