LYDENBURG – Faces lit up with smiles on Friday when Lydenburg Korn Steel CC donated mattresses to learners at Estralita School. This is part of its initiative which is intended to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
Johan Nel of Korn Steel CC said the company had decided that its social responsibility would be directed to children in the community.
“Today, Cheryleen and I were allowed to spend time with learners from Estralita and we enjoyed every moment. It was fun and we learnt a lot about the dedication and passion that the educators in the school put into their work,” Nel said.
According to him a civilisation that neglects the underprivileged has never succeeded.
“That is why I believe it is everyone’s moral duty to help if they can. Today we were reminded of how rewarding the feeling of knowing we made a difference feels like,” he explained.
The principal of the school, Mr Eric Ndashe, expressed his gratitude to the company for the donation and spending the day with the pupils. “We appreciate what they are doing for our learners and look forward to their next visit,” Ndashe said.
“I would like to urge the public to continue assisting us because we really
need help.”
