New cigar lounge adds extra comfort
Not only does Blyde Canyon offer you a luxurious getaway from the hustle and bustle of the fast-paced city life, but it has now also opened a cigar lounge.
GRASKOP – “Blyde” means “glad”, “joyous” or “happy”, and this is the perfect description for the Blyde Canyon, a Forever Resort.
Nestled among breathtaking steep-sided valleys and ravines in the Mpumalanga Drakensberg, this resort is well known for its immensely beautiful hiking trails on the edge of the canyon leading down to mystical waterfalls and forests.
Not only does Blyde Canyon offer you a luxurious getaway from the hustle and bustle of the fast-paced city life, but it has now also opened a cigar lounge.
Steelburger/Lydenburg News was invited to the opening of the lounge and was welcomed by friendly and exceptionally efficient staff. The whole event was planned to perfection and all who attended the launch were treated to the highest standard of service excellence.
The lounge redefines a relaxed atmosphere with a wide variety of aged distilled brandies among other delectable alcoholic beverages. Blyde Canyon has a rich history which started in 1978. General manager of the resort, Mr Johan Bezuidenhout, came up with the idea. Tourists who frequently visit the resort often smoke after dinner and thus the idea of the lounge was brought to life.
“This is a value-added service we offer. In our continuous effort to improve our offerings we have upgraded our conference facilities, chalets, ablution facilities, outside lapa and now our restaurant. In addition to this we now also offer and present our cigar lounge,” Bezuidenhout said.
The resort prided itself in its work, service and general offering and aimed to exceed guest’s expectations at all times.
The resort has eight chefs, a new a la carte menu and the venue can now also be booked for private functions.
Blyde Resort has commanding views of the Blyde River Canyon, the third-largest canyon in the world. This three- and four-star resort is located a mere 160 kilometres from Mbombela and 50 kilometres from Graskop. It is the ideal base for hiking trails and scenic trips by car to well-known Mpumalanga locations, including Pilgrim’s Rest.
Not only does it offer some of the most spectacular hiking trails in Mpumalanga, but horse trails also depart from the stables daily. This is a fun-filled family activity for young and old alike and no previous horse-riding experience is required, as an experienced member of the stable staff will accompany you.
This resort brings you as close as you can get to experience the beauty of the Mpumalanga escarpment and all the glory it has to offer.
