Get ready for one of the town’s biggest occasions of the year – Hoërskool Rob Ferreira’s 60th birthday celebrations tomorrow (April 17) and Saturday (April 18).

The festivities will kick off at 09:00 on Friday with a parade through the town. It will consist of six floats depicting each of the six decades since the school’s founding, and a fleet of Harley-Davidson and BMW motorcycles will lead the way.

The parade will follow this route from tomorrow (April 17) at 09:00.

Community members are then invited to visit the market with food and gift stalls selling everything from vetkoek and chip stix to jewellery and honey, or go splash in the water park with 12 different rides for children and adults.

From 17:00 to 19:00, 12 young, local musicians will perform in a talent show.

At 19:00, Joe Niemand will take to the stage with his amazing and inspiring music.

Entrance is R30 for primary school children and younger and R50 for high school pupils and adults. A ticket for secure parking costs R10. The entrance fee includes entry to all rides and Joe Niemand’s show.

Tickets are available at NG Kerk Witrivier or Hoërskool Rob Ferreira.

On Saturday Robbies alumni will gather at the school for the launch of the Old Robbies Club. This will comprise a bring-and-braai, tour of the school and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.

The weekend’s celebrations will end with a church service on the main rugby field on Sunday morning.
