Children celebrate SA’s freedom

Pupils of Summerhill Prep School wore outfits with South African colours or signifying their cultural heritage on April 24 to celebrate Freedom Day.

Dressed in South African colours or cultural outfits, pupils of Summerhill Prep School celebrated Freedom Day on April 24.

Pupils were taught about its significance and their South African heritage and honoured those who fought for freedom and left an indelible mark on the history of our country.

Children waving colourful flags throughout the day were a constant reminder of what was being celebrated.

The cultural day provided pupils with the opportunity to learn more about South Africa and its colourful past.

Freedom Day is celebrated on April 27 each year to commemorate South Africa’s first democratic, non-racial elections held in 1994.
