Hail storm causes extensive damage to residents’ belongings

With their gardens ankle-deep in hail and water pouring from their roofs, residents didn't know what to protect first.

ROOSSENEKAL – When it rains it pours for residents in Ackerman Sawmill residential area on the Roossenekal Road.
The area was hit by hail and heavy rain on Monday May 11. With their gardens ankle-deep in hail and water pouring from their roofs, residents didn’t know what to protect first.

“Our house was flooded with water and we had no idea where we would be sleeping today. All my furniture is soaking wet,” said Neels Barnard, a resident.

According to Barnard this is not the first time that this has happened to them. “The last time it happened, I had to buy a new bed,” he said.
