Modikwa host environmental day

LYDENBURG – Last Friday, Modikwa Platinum Mine celebrated Environmental Day in style. The mine recruited their workers to participate in sporting activities that included cycling, marathon and a fun walk.
The mine’s general manager, Mthi Mtshengu also participated in the sporting activities as he successfully completed a seven-kilometre fun run. After the race he also encouraged his team to preserve their environment.
Hope Tyira, Modikwa’s business area leader for sustainable development, said they aimed at promoting environmental awareness.
“We must refrain from littering and when we see litter we must pick it up. Modikwa cares for the environment. We are also the best in safety and production,” he said. The mine awarded medals to all the participants on the day.
