Mash FM presenters establish education initiative to enrich pupils

Manzini says the aim of the project is to give pupils the edge to want to achieve more in life.

LYDENBURG – As part of giving back to the community, Mash FM presenters have started an initiative to educate local learners about the importance of education.

Two presenters at the station, Lindiwe Manzini and Emmanuel Monareng started a group called “Revelation of Hope in Education” and according to them they dream of a community that sees beyond grade 12 level education.

Manzini says the aim of the project is to give pupils the edge to want to achieve more in life. “We grew up in this area, we have seen people who feel once they pass grade 12 they have achieved their dreams and some think working in supermarkets is their final destination.

We want such a mindset to stop because there’s more to life out there,” she said.

“Some learners wake up and go to school just because their parents tell them to go, it would be nice to see pupils who enjoy going to school,” she explained.

“We have already started visiting some of the local institutions, we plan to visit all the schools around Thaba Chweu Municipality and hope that one day this project will go global.

We want Lydenburg/Mashishing to be on the map for bringing an educational initiative that has made a difference,” she explained.

For those who would like the group to visit their school or need more information, they can call Manzini on 073-263-7722 or Monareng on 082-220-0160.
