Residents frustrated by lack of water
The water has been cut due to construction in Viljoen and Berg streets.

LYDENBURG – It has been three days since some areas in town and Mashishing have been left without running water. The water has been cut due to construction in Viljoen and Berg streets.
In some areas people have not had water since Tuesday and in some areas since Wednesday.
Resident, Ms Christiene Bosch told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that life without running water was a challenge for her and her family. “We have been without it for days now and not having running water means when we bath we have to use just a little so that we can go to work.
I wish they would solve the problem as soon as possible because we are struggling,” she said.
“The issue is that every time we go and speak to the contractor on site they say we will have water in no time but that never happens,” she added.
According to Thaba Chweu Municipality spokesman, Mr Puleng Mapheto, for the past few days construction has been underway and new pipes are being fitted along the road.
“The contractor is connecting the main pipes to the reservoir and those ones supply water to some areas in Lydenburg and Mashishing. That is the reason why some areas do not have water,” he said.
“Water will be restored in the affected areas immediately when the contractor is done and it will be later today, before 18:00,” he added.
