Bergvlam the bed race winners

Vlammies tied with Lowveld for the most entries at the annual Lions Bed Race.

Team building and fund-raising were the order of the day during the recent High-Q Lions Bed Race. This was held at I’langa Mall on August 15 and businesses were seen dressed up, running and pushing their decorated beds.

Every year schools are invited to take part when teams of eight race with their made-up trolleys or beds on wheels. This was the first time that a team of Hoërskool Bergvlam won the schools race.

The grade-11 team, named Slaughter, dressed to the theme and won in a time of 02:30 and received R5 000. Bergvlam and Lowveld high schools also shared the spoils when both entered the same number of teams. Both entered five and shared the prize for most entries.
