A mix of poetry, dance, instrumental performances, singing and even a drama by the school’s staff proved a very entertaining combination at the recent annual talent evening of Accelerated Academy. Each pupil was required to participate with some amazing results.
The opening item by the juniors, had the group dance into the hall of Church Unlimited White River with painted faces, umbrellas and tambourines and singing Afrikaans folk songs like Kaapse Klopse.
Some of the other highlights were a song and dance by the AA Kids, where a member’s sister wandered onto the stage and stood staring at her sister and tried to hide behind her as the group continued to dance. This elicited much laughter from the troupe, who bravely finished their song, as well as the audience.
Minette Kotze’s piano performances were also amazing as she presented her piano rendition of the Pirates of the Carribean theme as well as “Only Hope”.
The school’s teachers and staff members had the audience roaring with laughter, when they presented a robot-like version of Cinderella. The skit saw staff members sitting in a row and standing each time they placidly read their short lines. In addition, the prince was played by a woman and Cinderella by a man. The actors amazingly kept their pose throughout the performance, which earned them much praise from the audience.
The school would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the evening a fun and blessed one and the pupils for their bravery, great preparation and good attitude.
