Municipality starts cataloguing informal traders

Mbombela has invited all informal traders to register on their database this week.

Mbombela Local Municipality (MLM) has invited all informal traders in the municipal area to register on its database.

MLM is responsible for creating an enabling environment for informal trading in the municipality, and as part of the informal trade management programme MLM has begun developing a verifiable database of informal traders.

It will form the foundation of a permitting system that will secure the livelihood of legitimate informal traders.

The database will also assist MLM to properly plan for the development of the Informal Traders.

MLM is looking to capture the personal details of traders as well as the location of where they trade and information on the goods they sell.

To register traders must bring a valid and original identity document to the Mbombela civic centre on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, from 08:00 to 16:00.
