Join family fun run in Emjindini

The Mpumalanga Tourism & Parks Agency (MTPA) through its social-ecology unit will host a family fun run on Saturday.
The fun run will start at Ekuchathuzeni Primary School in Emjindini at 07:00. Participants will run to Barberton Golf Course and then return to Ekucathuzeni.

According to Kholofelo Nkambule, MTPA spokesman, the event forms part of her department’s environmental education campaign. The theme for it is “Big or Small, Conservation Needs Us All”.

“This extensive environmental-education awareness campaign focusing on the plight of elephants has been implemented throughout the province since September focusing on the rural areas around the various MTPA nature reserves.

The MTPA invites everyone to join us at this fun day where a number of schoolchildren will participate in a five-kilometre event. The aim of this programme is to reach 180 000 children across the province through these fun runs,” said Nkambule.

A number of prizes will be given to the winners. Nkambule said a conservation quiz, drama, poetry and conservation songs will also be part of the activities performed by the schoolchildren.
