First day at Uplands full of excitement

It was an exciting first day for Uplands Prep’s grade ones, with one losing his first tooth in assembly.

The 44 new pupils, most of whom attended the school’s grade R classes last year, flooded their teachers with questions and stories. Many of the boys wanted to know when the sport would start. One said that he got special running shoes from Father Christmas, while another told his teacher that his shoes for athletics were bought in Cape Town.

While a few parents were very nervous about leaving their babies behind, the young learners had no such qualms and were quite happy to join their new friends. After settling down in their classes, they had a chance to tour the school, meet some of the staff and then munch on sandwiches and apples.

The day went quite smoothly as most of the new learners had attended grade R at Uplands Prep and are already familiar with the school, with the eight newbies quickly taken under the wings of their new classmates.
