Water and electricity back on in Mbombela

The reservoirs servicing large parts of Mbombela and Rocky Drift are being filled.

Yesterday the attempted theft of a copper cable supplying the Nelspruit Water Treatment Works with electricity put water supply in town under severe strain.

The water supply to Mbombela, Valencia, Nelsville, West Acres, Sonheuwel, Penryn, Drumrock Rocky Drift and Phumlani was affected.

Mr Richmond Jele, spokesman for Sembcorp Silulumanzi, said power was restored just after midnight, and they started pumping water into reservoirs.

There are still challenges with air in the pipes in some places, but Jele assured residents this would be sorted out throughout the day.
