Summerhill welcomes first second generation pupil

One of Summerhill Prep's first pupils enrolled her little boy in the school's Grade 00 class this year.

Summerhill recently welcomed their first second generation pupil, Jack Tomlinson. The grade 00 pupil is the chld of Kathrine Tomlinson, one of the 9 founder members of Summerhill Prep School.

The school was founded in 1997 and, at that stage, was being run in a double garage. Principal Cheryl Calmeyer says the Summerhill has come a long way since then and the school, which caters for children from grade 000 to 7, is the biggest it has ever been. Since only 18 children are allowed per class from grade 1, some of the classes have waiting lists for pupils who would like to enter the school next year.

“We were delighted to welcome Kathrine back and, even though we have grown, we know that Summerhill Prep still has the same atmosphere and value based, quality education that she so fondly remembers from her primary days,” Calmeyer said.
