Athletes get two podium spots at duathlon

Thirteen sporty pupils of Riverview Prep took on a duathlon at Uplands Prep on Saturday. Andrew Faria, Bella Vieira, Lucy James, Nadine Vermeulen, Libby Ralfe, Gregor Thomson, Luke Spear, Ruby James, Daniel Storey, Tristan Vorster, Bret Thomson, Rob Butcher, David Thomson and even a few mums and dads took part.
The full duathlon consisted of an eight kilometre trail run and a 32km mountain-bike race, while the junior race consisted of a 1,5km trail run and a five kilometre mountain-bike race.
Three of the boys entered the half-duathlon which was a 4,5km trail run and a 16km mountain-bike race with loads of fun with single track, bridge crossings and switchbacks.
Libby Ralfe came second among the junior girls in the junior race. Brett Thomson was the first boy in his age group in the half and Rob Butcher second in his age group in the half.
