Sport unites youngsters against crime

The annual Lydenburg SAPS Sports Against Crime event took place on Saturday, June 25 at Mashakeng Stadium. Residents enjoyed themselves while playing various games.

The local SAPS together with Thaba Chweu Municipality,

Mash FM, Sakhasive Youth Development, Together We Win Development, Department of Social development and the Department of Safety and Security organised the event. According to Lydenburg SAPS communications officer, Capt Alfred Kayzer Moela, the event is an initiative to educate the youth about crime.

“As a community, we have to come together to educate the future generation about the dangers of committing a crime and to also show them that they can have fun without drugs. The abuse of drugs has become a major concern in or area.”

Moela added that they would like to make this an annual event.
