Chess minds match up

At the end of the tournament, Curro was the winner of the day, Gateway came second and Barberton Primary was third

The annual Mbombela Circuit chess tournament was held at Barberton Primary School on Saturday.

Gateway Christian School, Barberton Primary, Laerskool Laeveld, Nelspruit Primary, Laerskool Bergland and Curro Nelspruit participated.

At the end of the tournament, Curro was the winner of the day, Gateway came second and Barberton Primary was third.

According to Lindie Ehlers from Gateway Christian School, two of their learners, Hyejeong Shim and Juan Fourie, were among the top seven players. Shim took position five and Fourie took position seven.
