"One passenger from the Polo was certified dead on the scene by paramedics, while four others including the driver of the car where transferred to Lydenburg Hospital with serious injuries.

OHRIGSTAD – Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a man was killed in an accident on the R36 between the town and Leboeng on June 30.

According to the Ohrigstad SAPS spokesman, Sgt Kholofelo Phokane, a white Hyundai H1 and a silver Polo Vivo were involved.

“One passenger from the Polo was certified dead on the scene by paramedics, while four others including the driver of the car where transferred to Lydenburg Hospital with serious injuries.

“Eventually one of the injured was transferred to Rob Ferreira Hospital,” Phokane said.

“We are still pleading with our motorists to always be cautious while driving on our roads, and to rest after every two hours of driving.

“Our members are still investigating the cause of this accident.”
