FNB pet drive a resounding success
The drive which took place from August 18 to August 25 was clearly blessed.
MBOMBELA -The FNB annual Pet Drive reached its target for collections on day one in Nelspruit. The bank had hoped to raise three tons of dog food as well as R126 000 for sterilization procedures.

At the time of reaching its collection point at the FNB Pinnacle branch, the volunteers had managed to accumulate approximately 4,4 tons of dog food and R130 000 for sterilizations. According to the head of consumer donations at FNB, Nicole van Rooyen, the total proceeds were to be split equally between HALO and Wollies Animal Project.

According to Van Rooyen, FNB staff were asked to vote for two NPOs of their choice.
“Once we got the results, we contacted all concerned parties to plan for an ideal date. We also planned around the weather to consider the bikers who would be travelling in convoy with us.”
The eight-day trip consisted of 12 volunteers who travelled in three kombis with trailers and four bikes to the various destinations. The stops for the project included Mbombela,Sabie, Hoedspruit, Tzaneen and Modimolle.

On day one the drive progressed from Johannesburg to Mbombela. It then proceeded to Sabie on day two.The team went sightseeing on day three and then departed for Hoedspruit on day four. An outreach day was held for the non-profit organisation HALO on day five.On day six the drive progressed to Tzaneen and then moved on to Modimolle the next day. From Modimolle, the drive returned to Johannesburg on day eight and an outreach day for Wollies Animal Project was subsequently held.

Before leaving the Pinnacle branch,Van Rooyen expressed her gratitude for being able to manage and participate in the initiative.
“It’s great that FNB allows us to organise such an initiative, and that they allow us to use our internal communications and staff to take our motto, ‘How can we help you?’ into our communities, because if our communities did not exist, then neither would our banks.”
