Barberton golfers fund-raise for little children

Friday evening was filled with excitement for everyone who participated in the annual NTT Barberton Golf Day at Barberton Golf Club (BGC).

Everyone was waiting for the prizes to be handed out – and there were plenty.
There were two massive tables with prizes upon prizes stacked upon them. These included a bit of everything – alcoholic beverages, treat-filled hampers, small appliances and much more.
Earlier on in day, golfers enjoyed themselves on the greens as they teed off for a good cause. A full field of 72 golfers participated in the event.
According to Duwies Duvenage, dealer principal of NTT Toyota Barberton, the car retailer holds its annual golf day to aid organisations from around the area.
“This year all the proceeds will go to Barberton Nursery School/Kleuterskool. We have invited our clients and suppliers to be part of this event,” he said.
Gerda Coetzee, principal of Barberton Primary, said they were grateful for the generous support they had received.
“As a non-profit organisation we have to find ways to raise our own funds to meet the school’s daily running cost, as we receive no funding. Fortunately, this year NTT Barberton and its partners came on board and assisted in our cause. We would like to thank Duiwies Duvenage and his entire team for coordinating the event, all our sponsors for the prizes and contributions and most importantly, the players for supporting us,” said Coetzee.

The format of the event was a fourball American scramble with a shotgun start. After the round of golf, the prize-giving was held, followed by an auction to raise funds for Barberton Nursery and a delicious dinner.
The top three prizes went to:
First place: Plato Hydraulic
Second: Lowveld Auto Keys
Third: Barberton Hi-Tech.
