For 27 years we Glasfit Nelspruit have been the best in glass fitting says owners Helge Braithwaite and Henri Steyl.
On November 12, 1991 Discount Windscreen (Pty) Ltd, as it was called then, sold its first windscreen. “We were supposed to officially open on December 1 but a customer needed a windscreen and we assisted him,” says Helge.
“Many highlights followed in 1993 as we officially became Glasfit. We opened our Malalane branch in 1993. It was also the year, with the support of Glasfit HQ, that we became fully computerised in terms of our various business systems resulting in us being able to process claims immediately on-line.
“Our success throughout the years is a direct result of exceptional advice and guidance from Greg Ratray, Glasfit HQ, Altmal Allers, Jean Fouché and others. They exposed our weaknesses and provided advice to turn the latter into positives,” says Henri and Helge. “Venessa van Aswegen started with us 22 years ago as a marketer. Through the years of hard work and reliability, she has earned the position of manager. Our bookkeeper, Eve van Tonder joined us in 2004 and is still crunching the numbers for us.
“Fortunately for us our current premises, where it all started 27 years ago, has been able to accommodate our growth in terms of additional products and services. With the implementation of our Digicall system, we set the benchmark in our industry allowing for interactive communication and authorisation with and for all insurance companies. Training our technicians is consistent and ongoing as we subscribe to Glasfit, SAGGA and AAAMSA standards. Coupled with our friendly, well-trained frontline and workshop staff, we are able to create a pleasant experience for our customers consistently every day,” says Henri.
