Athletes give their all at talent – identification camp

Two learners from Barberton High School (BHS), Tsepo Malumane and Nathi Kubhayi, were invited to attend the annual Mpumalanga Talent Identification Programme (TIP).

The TIP camp was recently held at Hoërskool Rob Ferreira.

According to Juan Pieterse, BHS sport organiser, only the top rugby players in Mpumalanga are scouted and invited to be tested.

“And the 25 best are then ultimately invited to attend the TIP for Puma and South African Schools. Nathi and Tsepo underwent physical fitness, psychological and rugby-skills tests during this camp. After the camp the results will be analysed to determine which of the players will be able to play Craven Week and South African Schools rugby,” said Pieterse.

He added that both athletes said the camp was tough but they enjoyed it.

“They learned a lot from this experience. They are ready to work hard and do what it takes to represent BHS at Craven Week and maybe even in the South African Schools team. We are so proud of these two boys,” he added.
