Gateway’s achievers worthy of prestige awards

Gateway Combined Christian School held its annual prestige awards evening last Tuesday.

Visitors described it as an excellent event. Brad Palmer, one of the Accelerated Education Enterprises directors who is involved with expanding education in Africa, was the guest of honour and gave an outstanding speech.

According to Gateway principal, Lindie Ehlers the school’s aim is to allow each learner to reach their full potential by creating sufficient opportunities through a balanced world-class education system.

Prestige awards were granted to those who had achieved excellence in sport, culture, academics and character.

The winners were as follows
• Lwandisa Khoza – prefect 2018, second-year Scripture award and Christian character
• Tiffany Irons – head girl 2018, overall Christian character, full colours in archery, dance shield, full colours for culture events, 10-year Scripture award

• Shaun Nkosi – prefect 2018, half colours for soccer, half colours for athletics
• Juan Fourie – senior intermediate academic achiever, Christian character award, chess award, Scripture award
• Phill-Junior Marakalla – senior phase academic achiever, half colours for archery, athletics and chess, junior victor ludorum, sixth-year Scripture award, Christian character award
• Kago Marakalla, Kylie Putkammer, Monde Majola – academic achievers, junior intermediates

• Aniel Nyembe – graduated this year and was offered an internship at Uplands Preparatory School to study as an early childhood development teacher.
